Toronto-based fashion designer and Tendril darling Jessica Mary Clayton is presenting her oil-sands inspired Spring / Summer 2012 collection at the studio on October 13th. This collection is a collaborative debut, featuring textile prints on silk by Tendril. There will be cocktails, fashionable treats, and stunning garments.
Our friend Nando Costa has announced his latest project a short film wherein every frame will be laser engraved in wood. Even cooler is that participants will get to keep one of these one-of-a-kind artworks. The film titled 'The New America' is set in a fictitious place and time where a very advanced society goes through a phase of structural and financial collapse, but eventually re-emerges with it’s values rooted in a strong relationship with nature. Awesome!
Toronto-based artist-designer Barr Gilmore collaborated with longtime friend and Tendril Director Chris Bahry to create this self-portrait in the form of a sculpture-cum-functioning cocktail bar. The sculpture/bar is a thesis exhibition presented to the Ontario College of Art and Design University that partially fulfills the requirements for Barr's degree of Master of Design in Interdisciplinary Masters in Art, Media and Design.
The Colour Barr is made of stainless steel, polyurethane enamel, ziricote, glass decanters, tumblers, shot glasses, cocktail shakers and various bar equipment. Check it out in person at the MADE gallery in Toronto until May 15th.
Stunning light sculptures created by Toronto-based, Polish-born artist and designer, and our dear friend Michael Maciej Bartosik have been featured on Design Milk. The designs are based on the sculptures of Kenneth Snelson.
